We went to Mecum Nashville for the cars, but the motorcycles deserved a look too. Between the Corvettes and trucks, there was a whole row of bikes worth stopping for, from a restored little Honda to full-size Harley customs.
In this MakerBuildIt Garage Short, we take a quick look at that lineup and ask a simple question: which bike would you take home?
A restored 1972 Honda CT70
One of the bikes mentioned in the walkthrough is a restored 1972 Honda CT70. Its small size makes it an immediate contrast to the larger motorcycles in the lineup. At an auction where so much attention goes to big cars and trucks, a little vintage bike can be just as memorable.
The Short is a quick look around the display, so we do not go into a detailed inspection of the Honda or its restoration. It is one of the examples that shows how much variety there was to see.
Full-size Harley customs
At the other end of the size range were full-size Harley customs, including a 1990 Springer Softail mentioned in the video. Seeing those bikes alongside the little CT70 is part of what made this row interesting: two very different kinds of motorcycles sharing the same auction floor.
You do not have to arrive looking for a motorcycle to get drawn into a lineup like this. Even as someone who is not really a big motorcycle guy, I found plenty worth stopping to look at.
The fun of looking beyond the cars
That is what I love about walking around Mecum. You can be looking at Corvettes one minute, trucks the next, then turn around and find a whole row of bikes you had completely forgotten existed. Sometimes the most interesting part of the visit is the display you did not plan to spend time with.
This Short is a walk through the lineup, rather than a ranking of the bikes or a rundown of auction results. Take a look at the motorcycles in the video and see which one catches your eye.
